This painting is part of a series documenting a single, suspended ocotillo against a wall, a subject found during an artist residency in Terlingua, Texas. Following the tradition of Monet’s study of light, this piece observes the transition of dawn. The work documents the warm, orange hues of early morning and how the first rays of light begin to define the structural silhouette of the plant against the wall, capturing the specific atmospheric shifts that occur as the day begins in the high desert.
